Welcome From Your PTSA President
Happy November, Lions!
First, a HUGE thank you to everyone who joined us for Monster Mash! Not even a hurricane induced date change and pouring rain could keep our families and volunteers from a night of fun and frolic, and we love you for that! We hope you had an amazing time and are counting down to next year’s ghastly adventure the same way we are!
As midnight dawns on Halloween and we move into November, we are focusing on community: the community we share with our school family, our home family, and even with the neighborhood around us. We have a lot planned in this month of community, but we are kicking it off by bringing back an event that has been bonding people since the 1880’s. That’s right, skate night is back!
Okay, so I didn’t know roller skating first became popular in the 1880’s either. Thank you Google. But, what I don’t need Google to tell me is that there’s probably a couple of us who shuffled around that skate rink floor in the 80’s or 90’s. Whether you were jam skating to your favorite pop song or avoiding holding hands while you couple skated to your favorite 90’s slow jams, skating has been an experience that many of us have used to enjoy community over the years. And, we are so excited that skate night is back, and we get to share all the feelings and smells (if you know, you know) of the rink with our kids.
Totally optional, but to make skate night even more fun, join us dressed to represent your favorite roller skating era and let’s see which decade gets the most love! Will it be the 70’s disco dancers, the 80’s babies, or the 90’s kids? We can’t wait to find out.
See you on the rink,
Jamie
